Spring Festival 'Vasantostav' organised by AIR |

The Spring Festival- Vasantostav- a programme of folk and Light music has been organised by the All India Radio - Ahmedabad. The programme organised on the occasion of Holi and Spring Festival will be held at 8 PM tonight at ATIRA Auditorium in Ahmedabad, in which various folk artists will perform their local folk song and music.
Various folk artist of the country will perform their respective folk songs and folk music in today's Vasontotsav programme in Ahmedabad. These include Bhojpuri folk songs by Sucharita Gupta, Himachali Folk Songs by Shri Hetram Tavar and Gujarati Folk songs and Bhajans by Nayan Panchal. These programmes are also organised by the different AIR Stations of the country on the occasion of Holi and Spring Festival, which will be broadcast in the National programmes of All India Radio later on.
All India Radio National Spring Festival of Folk and Light Music 2008 would take place at ten places including Trichy today evening. The festival at Trichy will begin at Bishop Hebber College with Kolattam and Kummi, the traditional folk dance of Tamilnadu by Mrs. S. Rajammal and party.
Mrs. Manjula Gururaj from Bengaluru will present Kannada Light music and Mr. Kalanilayam Unnikrishnan will present Kathakali Padangal, songs from Kathakali, the traditional classical art of Kerala.
A CD of classical carnatic music by the famous artist Smt. D.K Pattammal will be released on the occasion.
The festival is celebrated simultaneously at Ahmedabad, Delhi, Guwahati, Jammu, Jalandhar, Jaipur, Rohtak, Satara and Kadapa besides Trichy.
Chief Executive of Prasar Bharati Mr. B.S.Lalli, , in a message said Akashwani aims to bring the rich heritage of the nation through the medium of folk music to all listners. Akashwani is conducting this musical programme for the last three years throughout the country.
