Burglars strike in flats near cops’ quarters

The burglary took place at Puja Apartment in Navrangpura
Three houses were burgled within a span of two hours in broad daylight in Puja Apartment in Navrangpura on Wednesday. According to the police, the burglaries seemed a handiwork of one group, that gained entry into these flats in similar manner.
The burglars broke into the house using iron-rods with which they broke the locks. The incidents have created panic among the residents of the apartment, which is at a stone’s throw away from the Police Officers’ Quarters manned by security personnel.
The police said a case has been registered following a complaint by Sonalben, a resident of the apartment. Sonal had left home along with her two daughters at around 11 am. Later when she came back at around 2.30 pm, she found the lock of her flat broken.
The house was ransacked and the burglars had taken away jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh. Later she found that the doors of adjacent flats were also opened in a similar manner. The owners of these flats have been away for quite some time. The thieves decamped with a booty worth Rs 4.23 lakh from these flats.
