Innovative, unique wound-healing system takes root in Ahmedabad Posted On Wednesday, February 01, 2012 at 08:09:20 PM | | | GS_googleAddAdSenseService("ca-pub-8048660860005691"); GS_googleEnableAllServices(); GA_googleAddSlot("ca-pub-8048660860005691", "MM_ROS_468x60_Top"); GA_googleFetchAds(); A one-of-its-kind wound healing practice Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) -- initiated by the Innovative Healing Systems (IHS) based out of Florida, US -- is getting its roots well propagated in India. This innovative treatment envisages wound care (even the dead wounds) and hyperbaric management and consultation expertise to optimise healing outcomes and patient satisfaction. To spread more awareness of the relatively new healthcare practice -- begun in 2003 by the IHS founder President Dr Ravi Patel -- a press meet was organised by the IHS India on January 31 at the Innovative Wound Center, SAL Hospital in Ahmedabad. | | Dr Ravi Patel (in centre) with the team of doctors having HBOT expertise. (L-R) Dr Sandeep Ojha, Dr Jignesh Parvadia, Dr Nitin Shah and Mr Nilesh Vaishnav | The centre offers opportunities for medical professionals to focus their talents in the rewarding field of wound healing medicine with extended experience and personal satisfaction. The HBOT treatment involves administration of 100 per cent oxygen while the patient is in a pressurised environment. It heals the wounds that are almost dead after a phase of time. In the first phase an increased input of oxygen pushes the wound go live and then a healing treatment completely wipes out the wound in around 25 sessions. Some of the notable benefits that treatment offers include enhancement of white blood cells & antibiotic activity and vasoconstriction (reduces edema). | | A patient in HBOT chamber watching TV while going under treatment | The intermittent use of this therapy increases the body's immune and healing response, helping to halt the growth of anaerobic bacterial organisms. Additionally, the state-of-the-art HBOT chamber offers clear, acrylic chamber offers total visibility and freedom of movement, which is especially important for anyone who suffers from confinement anxiety. While undergoing treatment, the patient can sit up, watch television, listen to the radio or take a nap.
