Budget for VS focuses on modern facilities
Mayor clears Rs 115-crore budget for the AMC-run hospital for 2012-13

Mayor Asit Vora said that the budget will help VS deliver quality treatment
Quality service and better treatment with modernised equipment remained the main focus in Rs 115 crore budget, which was cleared for the AMC-run V S hospital by Mayor Asit Vora on Tuesday.
The budget for 2012-13 also has special provision for better facilities for the relatives and attendants of patients, like installation of sheds for them at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore and upgradation of elevators. Allocation was also made for close circuit television cameras (CCTVs), new equipment for fire safety and better cleaning and sanitation in the hospital. “In the coming year, we plan to equip this hospital with good clinical machines and latest equipment so that the patients are able to get best possible treatment,” said Vora.
According to him there would also be bio-metric attendance system for the doctors, Single window clearance for payment and proper documentation at counters.
From next year, the hospital would start using tele-medicine to share details of critical and important cases of medical science with the best hospitals and universities in other countries. For this, the infrastructure would be installed at the cost of Rs 10 lakh. Other allocations in the annual budget include Rs 1.15 crore for the renovation and repair of post-mortem room, Jain ward, toilets blocks, roofs and Rs 50 lakh for renovation of maternity ward. A provision of Rs 25 lakh has also been made to buy new machines for better disposal of bio-metric waste and sanitisation.
Proposal has been made to buy fully automatic urine analyser at a cost of Rs 16 lakh. Besides, the hospital will also buy a dedicated HPLC (high performance liquid chromatography) machine for about Rs 17 lakh for the HbA1C test of the diabetes patients. The hospital will also buy heart-lung machines for the heart patients at a cost of Rs 45 lakh.
